Yesterday I was cleaning out a box and found an old notebook from high school. My English teacher, Mrs. VeNard, was a big believer in journaling. Every day she made us sit for 20 minutes at the beginning of class with a personal journal (translate - spiral) and write. It was a habit most of us griped about - after all, when you're 15, a graded journal just isn' cool. Notes passed, a diary - yes. this was before internet, email, and text messaging. And yes, I know that dates me! Anyway, I discovered a creative outlet. After finishing my prerequisite 2 pages - yeah, no mere 2 paragraphs for this teacher - I'd search for poetry and quotes to put at the back of my journal, then raided my mother's old magazines and found great pictures to match the quotes. It's a habit that has persisted over the years - and no! I'm not going to tell you how many years! Periodically, I'm planning on thrilling you - or boring you - with a few of those quotes and the pictures, starting today!

MAY YOU HAVE:
Enough happiness to keep you sweet,
Enough trials to keep you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
Enough hope to keep you happy;
Enough failure to keep you humble,
Enough success to keep you eager,
Enough friends to give you comfort,
Enough wealth to meet you needs;
Enough enthusiasm to look forward
Enough faith to banish depression,
Enough determination to make each day better than yesterday.
