My sister (who lives in Northern Idaho) called last night and announced she was coming south for the winter. It wasn't an out of the blue announcement. When she visited us in February for my 50th birthday, I'd asked her to come. Unfortunately, life has moved on and all of us but her have now left Bonners Ferry, Idaho - a place where Fredericksens have been for 100 years or more- for lives elsewhere. Now, the majority of the family lives in Seattle, LA, and Fort Worth. She said she was pretty attached to her routine and her house and she didn't know what she wanted to do. I thought that was the end of it. Well, it seems she's coming from October 31-March 5th and I couldn't be more thrilled. I worry about her up there alone. Now, she won't miss out on all the fun we have during Thanksgiving and Christmas at our house.
This year promises to be even more wonderful with the birth of my grandson pending any time now. Between that and my son and his girlfriend announcing their engagement with a possible wedding date of Christmas 2008, things are really hopping at our house. Baby bottles are mixing with bridal magazines, laptops are constantly cruising bridal sites, then new mom blogs, and in the midst I'm trying to churn out another manuscript and whip the house into shape for a Labor Day Promotion celebration - Lieutenant Colonel has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
What would live be without these changing moments? We've gone through a couple of years of loss with my father and hubbie's mother, but it seems this year will be bountiful and blessed.
I hope yours will be the same.
