A Blast From the Past

Last night, as I'm working away -- A Winter Romance with pictures is now posted on my website folks -- I decided I needed some music. I opened my Napster and up pops an invitation to put in the year I graduated from high school and they will give me the Top 100 Billboard songs from Spring of that year. Hmm, I thought, why not. (Killed about 40 minutes of time while I scrolled through the lists and oohed nostalgia like and listened to a few - that's why not!! :-D.)

First thing I realized - I didn't know that there was such an ecclectic mix of songs from that year, songs as diverse as their artists - from Glen Campbell to Bachman Turner Overdrive. I suppose anyone can say this from their graduating year, but during high school, the mix didn't seem so bizarre. Take a peek.

1. Hey Won't You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - BJ Thomas
2. My Eyes Adored You - Frankie Valli
3. Philadelphia Freedom - Elton John
4. He Don't Love You - Tony Orlando and Dawn
5. The Best of My Love - The Eagles
6. Have you Ever Been Mellow - Olivia Newton John
7. Thank God I'm A Country Boy - John Denver
8. Black Water - Doobie Brothers
9. It's a Miracle - Barry Manilow
10. You are so Beautiful - Joe Cocker
11. Sister Golden Hair - America
12. Jackie Blue - Ozark Mountain Daredevils
13. Killer Queen - Queen
14. Lady - Styx
15. Love Will Keep Us Together - Captain and Tenille
16. Take Me In Your Arms - Doobie Brothers
17. The Last Farewell - Roger Whittaker (for crying out loud!)
18. This Will Be - Natalie Cole
19. That's The Way I Like It - KC and the Sunshine Band
20. How Sweet It Is - James Taylor

I itched to get over here and post my excitement to my blog. I think I deserve a pat on the back for avoiding that temptation and getting back to work. Just as a side note, the list was sprinkled with John Lennon and Ringo Starr songs, but I hated the Beatles and didn't like any of them much better after they broke up - so I couldn't bring myself to include any of those. Sorry. Now that you've looked at the list, can you figure out the year I graduated from high school? (And NO CHEATING by checking Facebook!)
